CFCU Delivers First Home Buyers Boost

Tuesday, 30th October 2012

Community First Credit Union delivers $2,000 boost to first home buyers.

From 1 October 2012, Community First Credit Union is offering a one-off $2,000 First Home Buyer grant called “Headstart”.  The “Headstart” Grant will be paid at settlement to first home buyers, who apply for a Community First Credit Union mortgage. The “Headstart” Grant is available to real estate first timers who buy or invest in new or established properties across Australia. As governments across Australia reduce some first home buyer subsidies, Community First Credit Union (CFCU) has come to the rescue with a $2,000 First Home Owners Headstart Grant, available to all first time buyers, nation-wide, from 1 October 2012.“We’re concerned how tough it is to buy your first home and some state governments have tightened the eligibility rules for some grants and exemptions, which previously helped first home buyers into existing homes,” says John Tancevski, Chief Executive Officer of Community First Credit Union.“To help breach the financial gap created by the eligibility changes, we’re offering the $2,000 First Home Owners Headstart Grant to applicants who settle on a first-ever property, with a Community First Credit Union home loan.”Mr Tancevski adds, “The $2,000 First Home Buyer Headstart Grant can be used to help cover costs such as ‘lenders mortgage insurance’, removalist fees, legal costs and so on, or it can be used to finance some furniture or whitegoods.“The $2,000 bonus will be paid at the same time as settlement of the property,” he adds. In a boost for real estate investment, Community First Credit Union is not limiting the $2,000 bonus to owner-occupiers.“We’re seeing the emergence of younger people, whose first-ever sortie into real estate is via an investment property,” says Mr Tancevski.“Usually these investors choose to stay at home with mum and dad, while their tenants help to pay off the mortgage.“It’s a smart strategy and we’d like to help these first-time landlords achieve their real estate goals by offering them the $2,000 First Home Buyer Headstart Grant  – as long as it’s their first property.  According to Mr Tancevski, Community First is able to offer incentives such as the First Home Buyer Headstart Grant because the credit union is a customer owned organisation.“We’re a community-focussed financial institution, and rather than paying our profits to investors, we can reach out to our members with incentives such as the $2,000 Headstart Grant,” says Mr Tancevski. “We also deliver value to our members through superior service, an extensive range of lending and banking products, lower fees and very competitive interest rates.”To find out more about Community First Credit Union’s First Home Buyer Headstart Grant , visit www.communityfirst.com.au,  or call 1300 13 22 77.About Community First Credit UnionCommunity First is Sydney’s most innovative community based credit union, having been awarded the Abacus Australian Mutuals’ award for innovation twice and has been in operation since 1959. Wow I wish there was something similar that would be available to first time car buyers! Haha! Although I'm pretty sure that car financing is significantly easier to obtain, it might be worthwhile looking into subsidies for more sustainable methods of private transport like for hybrid and electric vehicles right?

Looks like we're going to have more households preparing for an interstate removal after this initiative goes live. I personally would love to live in a more established neighbourhood myself!
