Strata Community Australia (NSW) President David Ferguson welcomed the review of the NSW strata laws announced by the NSW Minister for Fair Trading at an industry event this week.
Strata Community Australia (NSW) President David Ferguson welcomed the review of the NSW strata laws announced by the NSW Minister for Fair Trading at an industry event this week.
"The minister announced a three-month public consultation process which provides strata property owners, strata managers and industry suppliers as well as other stakeholders the opportunity to tell the NSW Government what works and what doesn't with the current legislation," he said.
"SCA (NSW) will be presenting a comprehensive submission that incorporates our policy position, including equity for strata residents, energy efficiency, inappropriate uses of strata buildings and certainty of ownership."
The submission will also encourage the NSW Government to work with the Federal Government on issues such as preparing for the carbon economy, community renewal and OHS.
"SCA (NSW) would like to see an accelerated harmonisation of laws across Australia to make it easier for those owning, living or working in the strata community industry," Mr Ferguson said.
Submissions close 29 February 2012.

Owners in strata schemes want more control of buildings where noisy backpackers and students constantly move in and out and by laws should be simplified to make it easier to renovate ageing apartments, strata experts say. Thanks.
